The development team behind a very old GNU/Linux operating system, blackPanther OS, had the great pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of version 14.1 of their 13-year-old distribution, dubbed Walking Dead.

According to the release notes, blackPanther OS 14.1 (Walking Dead) is full of improvements, the latest GNU/Linux technologies, and many awesome new features, among which we can mention the KDE 4.18.5 desktop environment and Linux kernel 4.1.1.

The blackPanther OS developers insisted on informing their users about the many features of the Linux 4.1.1 kernel implemented in the Walking Dead version of the distribution, such as journaling filesystems, high-speed hardware accelerated 3D graphics, SATA support, encrypted filesystems, software RAID, ATA and SCSI RAID volume support, as well as LVM (Logical Volume Manager) support.

blackPanther OS 14.1 (Walking Dead) aims to be as modern as possible, so it utilizes the latest specifications from freedesktop.org, including udisks, udisks2, and udev, all of which allow sysadmins to tweak the OS in order to add support for various hardware components, such as MP3 players, USB cameras, optical and USB storage, MTP devices, and much more.

Additionally, the new version of the blackPanther OS Linux distribution comes with the latest and greatest KDE applications, among which we can mention the Calligra office suite, K3B CD/DVD/BD burning software, Konqueror web browser, and many others.
