Black Lab Linux 7.0.1 is now available for download

Black Lab Software, through Roberto J. Dohnert, was more than happy to inform Softpedia a few minutes ago, December 11, 2015, about the immediate availability for download of the Black Lab Linux 7.0.1 computer operating system.

The Black Lab Software developers decided to make an early release of Black Lab Linux 7.0.1, which was officially expected sometime next week. The distribution is freely available for download for anyone and comes with the Linux 3.19.0-33 kernel packages, full support for the XFS and exFAT filesystems, the latest Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, the LibreOffice 5 office suite, as well as new deskbar layout and a set of beautiful Christmas wallpapers.

Many apps and core components have been updated

The first point release of Black Lab Linux 7.0 also updates numerous core components and applications, among which we can mention the Iceweasel web browser, IceDove email and news client with IceOwl calendar add-on, Smuxi IRC client, Audacious music player, VLC Media Player, Steam for Linux, AppGrid software center, as well as TimeShift system restore utility.

The Wine 1.7.55 software that lets users run Windows apps and games was also added in Black Lab Linux 7.0.1, along with the GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 5.2, Mono 4.0 Service Release 5, and the latest Webmin remote administration tool.
