New features are included in Privacy and Control bundle

BlackBerry has just released a major update for its BBM application on Android, iOS and BlackBerry 10 (sorry Windows Phone users).

Many of you probably remember that the Canadian company released an update for the beta version of BBM for Android and iOS earlier this month.

The new features were to be tested by those who opted on the beta program and then introduced in the stable version of BBM.

Well, it looks like today is the day, as BlackBerry has just announced that Android, iOS and BlackBerry 10 versions of BBM have just been updated with important new features and improvements.

First of all, the update adds the Private Chat feature, which makes sure that BBM users keep their privacy even while chatting with friends.

How does this work, you might wonder? It's pretty simple and it doesn't require you to do anything besides paying a monthly subscription.

If you don't want anyone else to know what you have previously chatted with your friends, then you should use Private Chat, as the new feature does not display the names of those chatting.

Even if the other person wants to capture a screenshot of your conversation, without any name to know who said what, the image is useless. Also, the chat ends automatically after a short period of time and there are no profile pictures included.

Edit Message feature has been added too

The new Private Chat feature is now included in the Privacy and Control Subscription, which replaces existing Timed and Retracted Messages Subscription.

The new bundle is available for $0.99 per month and includes Private Chat, Timed messages and pictures, Retract messages and pictures, and Edit Message.

The latest update for BBM also brings Material Design to the Android application. Apart from that, BlackBerry confirms they have added a new way to organize the sicker collection.

Furthermore, developers have implemented a new “quote message” feature so users can reference previous messages in their chat.

Last but not least, BlackBerry has updated the way font sizes are rendered on iOS. So iPhone users will be pleased to know that their BBM font size is now based on the size selected in the system settings.
