More bad news for the Batman: Arkham Knight PC players

All you have to do to elicit a cringe from the gaming community is to say the following word: the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. Developers have now announced that they have given up bringing multi-GPU support for the PC platform.

The launch of Batman: Arkham Knight for the PC users has been full of problems, and it looks like they just can’t catch a break. Things were so bad that the Warner Bros publisher had to stop the sales of the game for PC users and work on a re-release for a few months.

The second release wasn’t much better, and the publisher has finally given up, offering refunds to anyone who wants one, until the end of the year, long after the two weeks offered by Valve. There are still some players left out there with the game in their library, and developer from Rocksteady and Warner Bross are still trying to improve the game for them.

No SLI support for Batman: Arkham Knight

One of the things that people were asking on the forums was SLI support. A lot of PC gamers have two GPUs in their systems, and since Batman: Arkham Knight is eating up a lot of resources, it would be a good idea to have that. Well, that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

“We’ve been working with our development and graphics driver partners over the last few months to investigate utilizing multi-GPU support within Batman: Arkham Knight. The result was that even the best case estimates for performance improvements turned out to be relatively small given the high risk of creating new issues for all players. As a result, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to stop work on further multi-GPU support,” one of the developers noted on the Steam forum.

They’ve apologized for the fact that they can’t bring this to the public, but it looks like it’s a much bigger challenge than it’s possible. In theory, anything is possible, but it would take a lot of effort and money. Both of these resources won’t be spent by the publisher or the developers.

This entire debacle that happened with Batman: Arkham Knight could convince the publisher to stop releasing its games for PC users altogether, but we can only hope that’s not going to happen.
