The Taken King has been available for a little more than two weeks, but gamers who have played a lot of the Destiny expansion are already asking the development team at Bungie what they are planning for the future of the social shooter.

On a new Planet Destiny podcast, Luke Smith, the creative director working on the title, says that the company is aiming to realize the original vision that it had for it and to expand on some of the ideas that have been present in the most recent expansion.

Apparently, some new strikes are planned for Destiny, although it's unclear whether they will be part of a paid package or a free update, and they will be designed to focus on teamwork, asking gamers to work with their friends in order to achieve the best possible results.

Bungie also plans to continue to tweak the mechanics of the Crucible in order to make sure that it remains accessible for as many gamers as possible, overcoming the idea that only the most well-equipped Guardians will be able to constantly achieve victory.

The development team has recently launched a new hotfix, labeled 2.0.0.5, which eliminates some of the issues that the community has been reporting since the launch of The Taken King.

Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris return on October 13

The plan is to allow as many gamers as possible to level up their Guardians, gather up equipment and then tackle the very difficult King's Fall raid, which features Oryx as the final boss, while also making sure that those who took him down have other activities to focus on.

The Player versus Player-focused Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris modes are coming back to the social shooter on October 13, with a range of tweaked mechanics and new ways for gamers to earn cool rewards.

Bungie knows that it needs to keep fans of Destiny constantly engaged in order to make sure that they get future DLC and that means it will soon have to deliver some new content, some of which will be entirely free.

A new expansion for the shooter might be announced before the end of the year and will probably be launched during the first few months of next year.
