He thinks it's hidden next to Tutankhamun's burial chamber

A few weeks ago, archaeologist Nicholas Reeves published a rather puzzling study proposing that Queen Nefertiti's tomb might be hidden right next to Pharaoh Tutankhamun's burial chamber.

The researcher says evidence hints that Tutankhamun's burial chamber hides two secret doorways, of which one leads to an undiscovered store room and the other to the final resting place of Queen Nefertiti.

Quite confident in this theory of his, the archaeologist has even drawn a sketch showing where these two mysterious rooms are positioned and where the hidden doorways leading to them are.

Later this month, he'll get the chance to prove his theory

Come September 28, Nicholas Reeves will enter Pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb. Using sensitive surveying equipment, he'll try to determine whether the toms does, in fact, hide secret doorways and rooms.

He'll focus on the tomb's northern wall, News informs. The equipment he'll use should tell him whether this wall separates Pharaoh Tutankhamun's burial chamber from a room that has not yet been documented or if maybe there's nothing but dirt beyond it.

Even if such a hidden room is discovered, it won't be until they get around to excavating it that Nicholas Reeves and fellow archaeologists will find if they have really come across Queen Nefertiti's resting place.

Queen Nefertiti is believed to have been Tutankhamun's mother

Historical records hint that Queen Nefertiti was Pharaoh Tutankhamun's mother. Researcher Nicholas Reeves believes the burial chamber Tutankhamun was found in back in 1922 was actually built for her.

When King Tutankhamun passed away at a young age, he was laid to rest here. Then, years later, Queen Nefertiti was buried in a room adjacent to the tomb, the archaeologist argues.

The walls that Nicholas Reeves says hide doorways to secret rooms are covered in a thick layer of plaster. Nonetheless, linear traces on them hint that they might obscure undiscovered passages.
