14 DAY TRIAL // Rumors have been swirling around that Apple is working on a 4-inch iPhone that could help the company offer a more affordable alternative to its premium phones, and now a new report claims that we’re approximately 3 and a half months away from the launch of this device.
Citing sources familiar with Apple’s plans, 9to5mac reports that the Cupertino-based company is planning an event in March that would witness the introduction not only of the smaller iPhone, which is often referred to as the iPhone 6c, but also of the second-generation Watch.
Keep in mind that this is a rumor for now, but just like everything else happening in the Apple world before, the company actually keeps the product unveiling a secret for the time being, so it’s hard to believe that confirmation would ever arrive until we see them introducing the real devices.
iPhone 6c
First and foremost, the iPhone 6c will be developed from the very beginning to be a more affordable device, so pundits claim that it could cost between $400 and $500.
In order to keep the price as low as possible, the phone will lack features such as 3D Touch, but will still come with Apple Pay and Touch ID support. Both are available on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, yet Apple finds the 3D Touch support too expensive for such a device, as cutting the final price would be a lot more difficult.
The iPhone 6c could arrive with a metal case and be available in a wide array of colors, just like the 5c. It will have a 4-inch screen and run iOS 9.
Apple Watch 2
As far as the second-generation Watch is concerned, rumor has it that Apple isn’t planning too many major changes, but revisions to some of the built-in sensors are very likely in order to improve accuracy.
The design will be very similar to that of the existing Watch, sources say, but Apple is looking into ways to fit a GPS sensor as well, which should really come in handy when running or trying to measure distance. The Watch 2 will debut with the same price as the one for the existing model, which means that Apple is very likely to offer discounts on the first generation in order to clear up inventories.
