Just a few weeks before the official Apple TV 4th generation launch, Apple has extended their Apple TV Developer Kit giveaway, announcing a second stream of $1 Apple TV development test kits that will arrive at some of the lucky developers who signed up for the deal.

The Apple TV Developer Kit registration was open for a short period, starting September 9, 2015, and ending on September 11, 12:00 p.m. PDT. This offer allowed a small number of users from select countries and enrolled in Apple's Developer Program to get an invitation to purchase a $1 Apple TV 4th generation.

The $1 Apple TV Developer Kit contains "the new Apple TV, Apple TV Remote, Power cord, Lightning to USB Cable, and documentation."

Apple stated on the Apple TV Developer Kit registration page that they wanted "to give Apple developers the chance to build and test their apps on the new Apple TV before it becomes publicly available to customers later this fall."

As reported by 9to5Mac, according to e-mails received by developers, Apple has decided to extend the offer for a limited number of developers who had previously registered on the Apple TV Developer Kit registration page.

These are probably the last Apple TV Developer Kits Apple will send to registered developers

Seeing that the official late-October launch of the new Apple TV approaches, this is most probably the last opportunity developers who want to test their tvOS apps on an actual Apple TV 4th generation have before Apple's new device hits the shelves.

The new Apple TV was unveiled by Apple during their September 9 "Hey Siri" keynote, and it will come with a new TV platform designed to bring most of the apps available for iOS devices on the large-screened TV in the middle of the living room.

The Apple TV 4th generation will be available for prices starting at $149, and it will come with support for third-party controllers, the tvOS App Store, Siri, and the new Siri Remote.

Furthermore, the new Apple TV comes with a dual-core A8 processor, compared to Apple TV 3rd generation's single-core A5, which will still be available starting at $69.
