The third Public Beta build is coming soon

Today, July 27, Apple has started seeding the fifth Beta build of the anticipated Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan computer operating system to developers enrolled in the Apple Developer Program.

The OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 5 build is available through the usual channels, from your Member Center in your Apple Developer account, or directly from the Mac App Store application.

"This is a pre-release update to OS X v10.11. If you have OS X v10.11 installed, download this update by clicking Updates in the toolbar of the Mac App Store. If you do not have OS X 10.11 installed, use your download code on the Mac App Store to get started," says Apple.

As expected, the fifth Beta build of OS X El Capitan 10.11 brings with it several under-the-hood improvements and fixes some of those nasty bugs reported by developers since the previous Beta build.

Most probably, Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta 5 doesn't bring any major features, and it will be followed by the third Public Beta build in the coming days, which can be installed by anyone, especially people who don't have an Apple Developer account.

Supported Mac hardware for OS X 10.11 El Capitan

For those of you who want to jump ship and upgrade your current OS X 10.10 Yosemite installation to the OS X 10.11 El Capitan Beta builds, we remind you that the OS is currently supported on specific Mac hardware.

OS X 10.11 El Capitan runs on Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer), MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer), iMac (Mid 2007 or newer), MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer), MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer), and Xserve (Early 2009) hardware.

We also want to point out that this is a pre-release version of OS X 10.11 El Capitan that contains some rough edges here and there and it is not recommended for use on production environments where stability is of the essence.
