Just a few moments ago, Apple started seeding the fourth Beta of the first point release of the Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan computer operating system to developers and public testers enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program.

A while ago Apple decided that it is finally time to drop Beta builds of their upcoming OS X and iOS operating systems to both developers enrolled in the Apple Developer program and Public Beta testers enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program.

Now that the Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan operating system begins to find a new home in many Macs, Apple is working day and night to fix those annoying issues reported by users since the final release of the OS, as well as to add various improvements.

All these bugfixes and enhancements will be packaged in a so called point release, and the first one is Mac OS X 10.11.1, which just received a fourth Beta build on October 14, 2015.

Here's how to jump into the Beta program for OS X

Anyone can install the Beta builds of OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan, so if you are one of the courageous ones, start by enrolling your Apple ID into the Apple Beta Software Program for OS X, then redeem the code needed to download and install the update.

Then, all you have to do is to open the Mac App Store, go to the Updates section, and wait for the OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 Beta 4 build to appear in the list of updates. Click the "Update" button in front of it to start the download/update process.

Existing Mac OS X 10.11.1 El Capitan Public Beta users can upgrade to the fourth Public Beta build in the same manner explained above for new Public Beta users. That's it! Don't forget to reboot your Mac to apply the update.

At the moment of writing this article there are no detailed release notes for Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 Beta 4, and being a development release and all that it comes with a warning: do not install it on production machines!
