It requires a 24-month installment agreement with monthly payments from $32.41. This means that you won't have to pay anything to get the new iPhone, but you will have to continue to make those monthly payments.
The second major benefit you get by submitting to the iPhone Upgrade Program is that you will get an unlocked smartphone every year, so you will be able to choose which carrier to use. Also, Apple confirmed that the iPhone Upgrade Program comes with AppleCare+.
For those unaware, AppleCare+ provides customers with up to two years of hardware repairs, software support, and coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage.
What does “accidental damage” mean? It means that you're covered for up to two incidents that imply screen damage, accidental drops or liquid damage.
Spread the subsidized cost over 24 months
According to Apple, after 12 installments you will be able to get a new iPhone and start a new iPhone Upgrade Program. You simply trade in your current iPhone for a new one, and the new program starts right away.
Moreover, instead of paying the subsidized cost of the iPhone outright, you will be able to spread the price over 24 months and low monthly payments.
The iPhone Upgrade Program is only available in the United States for the moment, but Apple plans to expand it to additional countries in the coming months.
In order to buy the new iPhone 6s and/or iPhone 6s Plus with the iPhone Upgrade Program, you will need to make a reservation online, beginning 12:01AM PDT on September 12, to buy in store.
