The lock screen bug that allowed anyone with physical access to an iOS device running iOS 9.0 and iOS 9.0.1 to access all the photos and contacts, has been fixed by Apple in the iOS 9.0.2 release.

According to an update on their support website regarding the security content in iOS 9.0.2, the lock screen issue was the only security bug fixed in the latest iOS release.

As reported by Apple, the bug affected any customer that had an iPhone 4s and later, an iPad 2 and later or an iPod touch (5th generation) and later, as long as they had them updated to either iOS 9.0 or iOS 9.0.1.

Moreover, Apple states on the iOS 9.0.2 security update article that "this issue was addressed by restricting options offered on a locked device."

Once you update your iOS devices to iOS 9.0.2, accessing photos and contacts from the lock screen through Siri should no longer be possible, and you will once again be able to use Apple's iOS personal assistant even when your device is locked.

If you haven't already updated your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 9.0.2 yet, you can do it by launching the Settings app, going to General > Software Update on your device and tapping on the "Download and Install" button.

If updating over the air is impossible because of a weak wireless or cellular signal in your area, you can also connect your iOS device to your Mac and click on the "Check for Updates" button.
