New bands unveiled at Apple’s today event

Apple has just unveiled new Watch bands at today’s event as part of what the company calls the “spring lineup” of the device launched last year.

First and foremost, the Apple Watch has received a new woven nylon band, which Apple’s Tim Cook says is based on a four-layer construction. It comes in several colors, including black, pink, blue and yellow.

Furthermore, Cook has presented new colors for the sport and leather bands, as the company is aiming to offer a wider variety of first-party bands for the Watch. A space black Milanese loop will also be released, Cook has announced, but he has provided no information on when exactly sales will begin.

The more exciting news is that the Apple Watch will be available starting at $299, as compared to the original price of $299.

No other faces or features

Certainly, for Apple Watch users, today’s event might be a big disappointment, given the fact that the company has only unveiled a few bands, but no other updates, features, or faces.

It’s a known fact that the lack of faces on the Apple Watch is one of the downsides of the device, especially because Apple doesn’t offer developers the possibility of creating their own faces and releasing them in the store for everyone to install them.

As expected, Apple hasn’t unveiled the second-generation Watch, which, according to people close to the matter, is likely to see daylight later this year together with the iPhone 7. The new model is supposed to debut in the fall of 2016, so that could be the moment when the new Apple Watch will launch too.

Without a doubt, today’s announcement is also living proof that Apple is pleased with how sales of the Watch are going, so if you were hoping for some bigger updates, you need to wait a little bit longer, until a later and obviously undisclosed time.
