You can now install Android apps on devices running Windows 10 Mobile with a very simple trick and third-party software

One of the biggest changes that Microsoft is preparing for Windows 10 Mobile is the possibility of running Android and iOS apps on its phones, which obviously is a pretty big deal, given the fact that Windows Phone has always been criticized for the lack of apps.

With Windows 10 Mobile currently in preview stage and with Microsoft working hard to bring it to the market sometime in the next couple of months, it's only natural to expect this new project to bring Android apps on Windows devices to start working in one way or another.

And it turns out that the latest build of Windows 10 Mobile can actually run Android apps with some rather simple tweaks that can be applied with third-party tools and APK files.

Supported devices

For the moment, installing Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile devices is not something that Microsoft supports, so if you want to try this, you must know that you're doing it at your own risk and that it might brick your device.

Only a bunch of devices are supported for now, including the following:

Nokia Lumia 920
Nokia Lumia 925
Nokia Lumia 929 / Verizon Icon
Nokia Lumia 830
Nokia Lumia 930
Nokia Lumia 1520
Nokia Lumia 635 (1GB RAM version)
Nokia Lumia 730
Nokia Lumia 820
Nokia Lumia 435
Nokia Lumia 928
The hack was first discovered by Chinese testers and appears to be working for all Android apps, but it's worth knowing that, in the case of apps requiring Google Play Services, there's still no way to get them up and running. So for the moment, you have to use only apps without these services.

We're putting together a detailed guide on how to install Android apps on Windows 10 Mobile devices and will update the article once it's live.
