14 DAY TRIAL // Johnny Depp’s romance with his “Rum Diary” co-star Amber Heard was tabloid fodder from day one, when they supposedly hooked up on set, months before he and longtime partner Vanessa Paradis announced their breakup. Things haven’t changed much now that they’re married.
At this year’s Toronto Film Festival in September, where Johnny was present for the premiere of his latest film, “Black Mass,” he and Amber walked the red carpet together and offered photographers PDAs like the one in the photo above.
Things were less lovey-dovey behind scenes, according to Star Magazine.
Amber is very controlling, jealous
Insiders reveal for the tab that the PDA was actually a move on part of Johnny to keep Amber from causing a scene because she was showing signs she was about to throw a tantrum because she’d seen him chatting with another woman, completely ignoring her.
That’s the problem with Amber, one tipster says: she’s too jealous and too controlling. When she’s not causing a scene for whatever reason her jealous mind brings up, she’s doing her best to get Johnny do to exactly what she wants.
Admittedly, one reason they’ve been fighting a lot is his recent weight gain, which has been duly analyzed by celebrity pundits in the media and online. Amber too thinks that Johnny could stand to lose a few, but he won’t listen.
“She says he looks like a mess now,” the spy says, adding that she’s been “dictating his diet” for some time now. She means well, but that doesn’t mean that she’s right in doing this.
“Amber is very loving toward Johnny - but if things aren’t the way she wants, all hell breaks loose,” the source says. On the other hand, “he’s blinded by love. He’ll do anything she wants - and she knows it.”
A controversial romance, made in tabloid heaven
Before Depp met Amber, he and Vanessa Paradis made up one of the most popular and apparently solid couples in showbiz. Love doesn’t last much in Hollywood, but they seemed to have found the secret to making it work, and even though they never married, they were together for almost 14 years, had kids together and had promised to each other they would grow old together.
When “The Rum Diary” went into production, the first cheating rumors began making the rounds, picking up speed as the shoot was drawing to an end. It would be another few months before Johnny and Vanessa made their breakup announcement and many months more until he went public with Amber.
The fact that she too was in a relationship at the time she first hooked up with Johnny didn’t escape the media.
The two were married this year on Depp’s private island, but as we can see, their new status as husband and wife did little to make rumors go away.
