14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 finally brings personal assistant Cortana on the desktop and Microsoft uses this as a way to entice users to upgrade to the new OS on their PCs and tablets.
Just like it was the case on Windows Phone, where Cortana could be accessed either manually by every user but also by simply saying “Hey, Cortana,” the PC version came in very handy to those who were sitting in front of the monitor or somewhere in the room and were ready to talk to the personal assistant.
But starting today, there’s another way to launch Cortana. The Satechi Bluetooth Cortana Button makes it easier to access the personal assistant by simply pressing a single button, which can be attached to a keychain, steering wheel, or simply placed on your desk.
Price and features
The device, which is available for $22.99, uses Bluetooth to connect to a phone or PC with Cortana and includes a CR2016 battery which, according to the manufacturing company, can last for 2 years.
“The Cortana Button puts Cortana at your fingertips without the use of the “Hey Cortana” feature which actively listens to you environment and in turn drains battery. With the Cortana BT button, you can access Cortana with a single press of a button, even if your device is out of reach,” the company says in the description of the device.
Of course, this button seems to be the lazy man’s device because Cortana can always be launched with just a single click on the desktop or a tap on your phone’s screen. Obviously, it’s also a more fun way to access the personal assistant that can be used to impress your friends, but we really doubt that someone’s ready to spend 23 dollars on this just because they can’t live without such a feature.
Laptops are also coming with a Cortana button these days, but the Satechi Bluetooth Cortana Button is still worth a chance if you want a quicker way to remotely launch the personal assistant.
