As promised, Mozilla did not kill Firefox OS

After announcing its exit from the smartphone business, Mozilla's Firefox OS operating system is not as dead as initially thought, and documents leaked by Spanish blog Hipertextual show how the Foundation is planning to go about deploying Firefox OS in IoT (Internet of Things) devices.

The documents are early product concepts created by Mozilla designers, and the Foundation has declined to confirm if they are currently in production or early prototypes.

The Firefox OS Pad

This is another name for Firefox OS tablets, already launched on the market in February 2014.

The tablet works just like ChromeOS systems, being only a browser, focused on simplicity, privacy, easy to update, having add-ons support, but no app stores and no telephony stack to worry about.

The Firefox Pi

Firefox Pi is a portable keyboard that would connect to any IoT device and add a ready-to-use keyboard to the system.

Basically, the Firefox Pi is a keyboard that transforms any LCD or dumb TV into a fully fledge computer, already coming with a fully functional (Firefox) OS installed internally.

As the name hints, the device would have support for Raspberry Pi devices, but would also come with the Mozilla Webmaker app already built-in.

The Firefox Hub

Firefox Hub is a SOHO (Small Office/Home Office) router, but it also integrates all the Firefox OS privacy and security settings.

The router would allow all connections made by users to benefit from the same privacy and security features that all Firefox users enjoy while surfing the Web via the Firefox browser.

The Firefox Stick

Firefox Stick is a Mozilla clone of the Amazon FireTV and Google's Chromecast devices.

You take the stick, plug it into your TV, and enjoy content streamed off the Internet right on your television set.

The device works via HDMI ports and would require the presence of a WiFi Internet connection to where the device connects and streams content from.
