14 DAY TRIAL // Apple's next flagship iPhone is likely to pack new camera technology, among other goodies. Aside from powerful features like OIS (optical image stabilization) and zoom, new LinX imaging technology will be implemented into iPhone 7.
But Apple won't stop here, a new report coming from AppleInsider claims. According to a note to be released to investors this week, which was obtained from the cited website, well-connected KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expected Apple's next iPhone to pack a dual-camera setup.
While the smaller 4.7-inch version of iPhone 7 will include the iSight shutter on the back, the same that's available on the latest models, the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will come in two variants.
The “cheaper” model will include a single-camera module while the advanced model is likely to sport a dual-camera design “for increased flexibility.”
Surprisingly, the information comes only a few days after another report coming from the South Korean media that claims both Samsung and LG plan to launch multiple high-end smartphones with dual-camera setups.
LG G5 might be the first flagship with dual cameras launched in 2016
In fact, the LG G5 might be the first flagship smartphone launched this year to feature a dual-camera design. It won't be world's first since that title belongs to the HTC One M8 released a few years ago.
For iPhone 7 Plus, Apple plans to work with Sony, so the smartphone will most likely include two 12-megapixel image sensors, one that will provide OIS (optical images stabilization) and a wider field of view whereas the second camera will include 2-3x telephoto lens.
If Apple's flagship smartphone indeed comes with dual cameras on the back, it will allow users to switch between sensors depending on the capturing conditions.
Since there aren't many suppliers for this type of camera configuration, Apple will be releasing two iPhone 7 Plus models with either single or dual cameras, as mentioned earlier.
Although there's no word on pricing options yet, we can safely assume that the iPhone 7 Plus with dual cameras will be the most expensive model.
