AT&T and ZTE have just announced they have teamed up once again to offer customers another affordable Android smartphone, the Zmax 2.

The new device will be available for purchase online and at select AT&T retail locations for just $150 beginning September 25.

Considering its price, the ZTE Zmax 2 is quite a decent smartphone, which ships with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

According to AT&T, the new smartphone features an updated design, since this is the sequel to ZTE Zmax, which was launched in the US quite a while ago.

Promises outstanding price-to-feature ratio

As the title says, the ZTE Zmax 2 is a phablet, which means it comes with a larger than usual display. In this regard, AT&T has confirmed the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

In addition, the phablet is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

There's also a 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

ZTE Zmax 2 offers 4G LTE, but there's no mention of dual-SIM support. It also comes with Dolby Digital Audio technology and a removable 3,000 mAh battery.

“The original ZTE ZMAX set the stage for the phablet market as it was the first large screen Android device with high end features at an affordable price. With the ZMAX 2, we will continue deliver the best low-cost Android phones in the U.S. that people actually enjoy using.

“Together with AT&T, advanced phone technology and design is now affordable for more U.S. Consumers,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA.
