It looks like the new workers Tumbleweed received from SUSE are doing a very good job, as the rolling release openSUSE variant gets more snapshots than ever, which include all the latest GNU/Linux technologies.

Douglas DeMaio teases the OpenSuSE Tumbleweed with some of the updates that will arrive in the Linux kernel-based operating system in the coming days through new snapshots.

According to Mr. DeMaio, openSUSE Tumbleweed users received plenty of updates this week, as no less than four snapshots have been released, bringing them new versions of the YaST, digiKam, Kiwi, perl-bootloader, and systemd rpm macros.

Additionally, the GRUB2 bootloader, KDE Frameworks suite, Samba, Xen, and the libzypp library have been updated as well this week for openSUSE Tumbleweed users.

However, the upcoming snapshots, which should arrive in the main software repositories very soon, promise to bring some exciting updates to the Linux kernel, Python, and KDE Plasma technologies.

"Four snapshots released this week provided plenty of new packages for openSUSE Tumbleweed users, but what is coming in a future snapshot is what has people excited," said Douglas DeMaio in the announcement.

Linux kernel 4.4.4 LTS and Python 3.5.1 will land soon

Very soon, openSUSE Tumbleweed users will receive more snapshots, which will update the kernel packages of the distribution to version Linux 4.4.4 LTS (Linux kernel 4.4.5 LTS is already available) and the Python packages to version 3.5.1.

Therefore, we recommend that you keep your Tumbleweed installation up-to-date at all times by running the built-in package manager a few times a week. As usual, we will update the article when the new snapshots have been released.

In the meantime, the openSUSE developers are looking for a new host city for their upcoming openSUSE.Asia Summit 2016 event, and are about to publish a draft release schedule for openSUSE Leap 42.2.
