Openshot is a video editor that features 3D animation, curve-based camera motion, compositing, transitions, audio mixing, vector titles, and many others features. A new beta build is now available for download and testing

Developer Jonathan Thomas has released a new Beta build for the 2.0 branch of the application, and it's a major upgrade. The dev has been really busy, and he pushed a huge number of changes and new features, and from the looks of it, he still has a lot of work to do.

The Openshot creator went to Kickstarter back in March 2013 and managed to get the money he needed to take the application to the next level. It took him a while to get to this point, but we can finally download and test the new release.

Openshot is ready for testing

Openshot is a really powerful and fast application and the amount of work that has been put into it shows. The project is advancing with great haste, and we might get some new builds soon.

"Greetings Everyone! I am proud to release the third beta of OpenShot 2.0. This marks the 3rd full release of OpenShot 2.0 in the past 30 days. I am working closely with testers and users to address the most critical issues as they are identified," developer Jonathan Thomas wrote on the official website.

According to the changelog, animations are now much smoother, the overall audio quality has improved tremendously, a new autosave engine has been implemented, the file handling has been refined, a new anonymous metric and error reporting module has been added, dragging multiple clips around the timeline is now much better, and lots of other smaller fixes have been added.

If you're running an Ubuntu system or something related, you can add the PPA and install the latest version from there (root is needed):

You can also download Openshot 2.0.6 Beta 3 right now from Softpedia.
