14 DAY TRIAL // Earlier today, December 3, we've been informed by Jos Poortvliet from ownCloud about the immediate availability for download of new point releases of the ownCloud Clients for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Android, and iOS operating systems.
The most important feature introduced in the new updates of the ownCloud Client, for both desktop and mobile platforms, is the implementation of support for sharing files with users from the same ownCloud server, which also lets them share files directly with a group of users without having to access the web interface.
"All clients introduce a new feature: the ability to share files to users on the ownCloud server. While the desktop and iOS client already had the ability to send public links, users had to use the web interface to share directly to groups or users on their ownCloud server," says Jos Poortvliet, ownCloud Community Manager.
What's new in ownCloud Client
Prominent features of ownCloud Client 2.1 for Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows desktops include a new activity tab for displaying server-side operations, optimizations to the multi-account feature, improvements to the account status tab, performance tweaks to the file discovery functionality, as well as numerous bugfixes.
On the other hand, the ownCloud Android Client 1.9 lets users share password-protected or time-limited links, manage the ownCloud server's sharing capabilities, as well as manually synchronize a directory. Moreover, the new version adds OC color to notifications, thumbnail support for the Details view, and fingerprints for untrusted certificate dialogs
Last but not least, ownCloud iOS Client 3.4.6 implements support for previewing documents in full-screen mode on iPad devices, allows users to download a folder, as well as to set a folder as favorite.
