14 DAY TRIAL // The ownCloud community has had the great pleasure of sending users an early Christmas gift - the availability of new maintenance releases for almost all of the supported ownCloud Server branches.
Today's updates, dated December 22, 2015, bring multiple improvements to sharing, security, as well as the web-based user interface, along with LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) fixes. The updated versions are ownCloud 8.2.2, 8.1.5, 8.0.10 and 7.0.12, so make sure that you upgrade your installations as soon as possible.

What's new in ownCloud 8.2.2
As ownCloud 8.2 is the most advanced and stable branch of the self-hosting cloud server, we'll sum up in the following sentences some of its highlights. Therefore, the ownCloud 8.2.2 update lets users send sharing links to more than one recipient, and makes it possible to share files while the "Share with link" option is disabled globally.
Furthermore, it is now possible to access a shared directory on external, attached devices, the shared files of users that have been deleted are now correctly handled, the "delete" action has been renamed to "unshare," non-existing files are now recognized in version previews, and the Home folder's naming enforcement setting is now properly preserved.
Another interesting feature implemented in ownCloud 8.2.2 is a modification to the upgrade process in the sense that system administrators no longer need to put the ownCloud Server in maintenance mode, disable apps, and run the occ command. The new behavior makes it easier for them to track and control the upgrade process.
"Not all system administrators were entirely happy with this behavior as it made it harder to track and control progress in case there were many updates besides ownCloud. For ownCloud 8.2.1, the packages thus leave the ownCloud server in maintenance mode. The system administrator can then manually run the commands to finish the upgrade, keeping an eye on the process. This behavior is now default for all ownCloud packages," said the devs.
