Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 Budgie edition now in development

While digging the Internet, we've found a new community spin of the ever-growing Manjaro Linux operating system, built around Solus Project's simple, modern, and intuitive Budgie desktop environment.

Simply called Manjaro Budgie, the new distribution has just been uploaded to the Sourceforge project hosting website, but immediately removed. However, we've managed to get a copy of the OS and uploaded the ISO image on our secure servers.

The Manjaro Linux Budgie edition is distributed as a Live DVD ISO image supporting only 64-bit hardware architectures. This is the first RC (Release Candidate) version and it appears to be based on Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 "Ascella" and not on the latest 0.8.13.1 version.

As expected, we've taken the Manjaro Budgie distro for a quite test drive to see what it looks like and what it contains. Please note that, at the moment of writing this article, only a minimal version was available for download, with fewer software packages.

It's powered by Linux kernel 4.1.6 LTS

As you can see from the screenshots attached in the gallery below, the distro looks quite nice, using a theme that resembles the look and feel of other Manjaro Linux 0.8.13 flavors. Manjaro Budgie is powered by the latest Linux 4.1.6 LTS kernel.

Once again, the software collection is minimal is this first ISO image of Manjaro Budgie, which we hope that it gets a final version soon and becomes accepted by the Manjaro community, just like all of the other awesome editions of the Arch Linux-based OS.

You can download Manjaro Linux Budgie Community Edition 2015.08 RC1 right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version of the OS, which contains unknown issues. Thus, we don't recommend using it on production machines.
