The new Crackdown is one of the video games that Microsoft is focusing on for its Gamescom 2015 presence, and the team at the publisher has confirmed that the new Xbox One-bound title will use the number 3 in its name and is also ready to show players actual gameplay taken from it.

The two and a half minutes of footage show the main character as he explores the city and engages enemies, and they end with some pretty impressive destruction.

Microsoft is saying that much of the mayhem is powered by its complex cloud technology and that gamers will be able to use it to both take out enemies and change the world around them and to create various elements, although no details were offered.

The company also claims that Crackdown 3 is designed to offer the classic gameplay mechanics of the first title in the series and that David Jones, the original creator, is heavily involved in the process.

Reagent Games is the name of the studio working on the title and more information about the core features will be delivered in the coming months.

Apparently, the Xbox Cloud solution that Microsoft will use for it offers developers the ability to deploy 20 times the power of the Xbox One, enhancing any element of their experiences that they want.

Crackdown 3 will appeal to action enthusiasts

The first installment in the series was a major hit with those who had the Xbox 360 and introduced a wide range of innovation when it arrived in 2007.

The second title did not benefit from the involvement of David Jones and was not as well received by gamers.

It remains to be seen whether Crackdown 3 can recapture the magic of the series, giving players enough verticality for the areas they explore and new ways to take out enemies, with the full destruction that has been teased.

Microsoft has not made it clear whether the game will offer any kind of single-player elements or will focus exclusively on multiplayer action.

Crackdown 3 is set to arrive only on the Xbox One at some point in 2016.
