Microsoft has just revealed its future plans for the upcoming New Xbox One Experience update. The major overhaul of the console's operating system, based on Windows 10, brings a lot of different features to all owners in November. Until then, Xbox Live Preview members can opt in to start testing it later this month.

The Xbox One launched in quite a few countries back in November of 2013 and continued its rollout throughout 2014. Unfortunately for Microsoft's console, the device failed to generate enough hype and its sales dwindled in front of Sony's PS4.

However, Microsoft's support of the platform didn't waver as the corporation added more and more features, while implementing price cuts and funding major exclusives.

The New Xbox One Experience makes its debut this fall

As announced at Gamescom 2015 last month, Microsoft is going to launch the New Xbox One Experience update for the console in November. Now, the company confirms on the Xbox Wire a few more details about the major overhaul of the console's operating system.

The new OS, based on Windows 10, brings a suite of new features and, most importantly, an interface that's faster by up to 50%, according to Microsoft.

Of course, major aspects like Xbox 360 backwards compatibility, a new Guide, a streamlined Home, and a more social Community are also included. The OneGuide app is also getting revamped, while the Store is being optimized so that users can find the content they want much more easily.

Preview members can opt in to test the update

As always, Microsoft is offering Xbox Live Preview members the chance to test the update and share feedback. Unlike previous improvements, it won't be automatically downloaded for everyone. First up, users have to opt in to receive the update, and at first, it will only be available to those who've shared the most feedback with Microsoft.

Expect a lot of new builds to constantly appear, as Microsoft is fixing issues and adapting to feedback ahead of the full launch in November.
