An Xbox One Preview member has made a brief, early comparison between the speed at which tasks can be complete on the New Xbox One Experience (aka the Windows 10-based system software), the current Xbox One firmware, and PS4 firmware update 3.00. The early results show a pretty big increase in performance for the upcoming Xbox One update.

Microsoft has released almost monthly firmware updates for its Xbox One console ever since the device began its rollout in November of 2013. Throughout the years, lots of new elements and options have been added, while existing ones have been polished.

Currently, the studio is testing the New Xbox One Experience update, which brings a whole new user interface and firmware that's powered by the Windows 10 operating system via a version of it called One Core.

The New Xbox One Experience speeds up many different tasks

The new update is in testing with Xbox Live Preview members, and one participant has made an interesting comparison concerning the time it takes to accomplish various tasks on the New Xbox One Experience, the current Xbox One, and the latest PS4 firmware update 3.00.

As you can see in the chart below, the New Xbox One Experience speeds up task completion by almost 50% in most scenarios. In many cases, the current Xbox One seems to be the slowed firmware, while the PS4 update 3.00 shows some better times.

Actions like joining a party, opening your gamercard or profile, opening the store, starting a party and inviting three friends, or sending a message to a friend have been tested by the user, who shared it on Reddit.

He does mention that the tests weren't the most professional and that performance can vary depending on an array of other factors.

Microsoft Community Manager Larry Hryb has also commented on the comparison, saying, "The team has been very focused on making things much faster. Glad to see you like which direction we are headed."

The New Xbox One Experience is expected to arrive for all owners of the Microsoft console in November, worldwide.
