Remember NVIDIA’s first tablet before the gaming-centered Shield Tablet? The Tegra Note 7 launched back in 2013 as an Android tablet based on an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

The slate also offered a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.

If you’re a fan of NIVIDA products, you might remember that the company rolled out the Android 5.1 update for the Shield Portable game console. On top of that, the graphics card maker also unleashed Android 5.1 for its older Tegra Note 7 model (as seen on Google Plus+).

NVIDIA partnered up with third-party device manufacturers like EVGA or Zotac in order to produce the slate, so there are quite a few models of the Tegra Note 7 out there into the wild.

However, if you own the HP Slate 7 Extreme (the HP-branded version of the Tegra Note 7), you will probably have to wait for HP to push out the update.

NVIDIA’s new piece of software brings Android 5.1 to the 2013 tablet, plus a bunch of improvements for the DirectStylus digital pen. It also fixes a series of issues with app compatibility, as well as network, audio and display issues.

While the Tegra Note 7 is no longer available on most retailers, those still interested in purchasing it can do so via eBay.
