After releasing the first maintenance version of the Mozilla Firefox 41.0 web browser, Mozilla has posted news regarding the third point release of the open-source and cross-platform Mozilla Thunderbird 38 email, news and chat client.

According to the release notes, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, Mozilla Thunderbird 38.3.0 is here to implement a Search field and a Clear button in the saved files tab, as well as to fix numerous issues that have been reported by users since the previous maintenance release of the software.

Mozilla has made several under-the-hood improvements to its Thunderbird 38 email, news and chat client, such as the re-implementation of support for directly composing email messages by right-clicking on a newsgroup, and support for international characters when attempting to import CSV (Comma Separated Values) files to the address book.

The message checking functionality has been improved

In addition to the changes mentioned above, Mozilla Thunderbird 38.3.0 is here to improve the message checking functionality, which was broken after the computer returned from hibernation, as well as to enhance the decoding of email messages that contain long References headers.

Last but not least, a crash that occurred when attempting to execute filter rules during maildir usage has been patched, chat entries will no longer disappear in the global database during shutdown operations, and the INBOX folder will no longer be deleted while using the maildir storage format.

All users of Mozilla Thunderbird 38 are urged to update to the 38.3.0 version as soon as possible using the built-in updater integrated in the About dialog. Alternatively, you can download the Mozilla Thunderbird 38.3.0 binaries, as well as the source package, for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows operating systems right now from Softpedia.
