A year after Apple launched the 4.7-iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch 6 Plus, Android device manufacturers get to feel the heat because more US smartphone buyers want to buy an iPhone rather than an Android for the first time in many years.

As reported in a Robert W. Baird & Co. survey, first discovered by Patently Apple, 53.2% of individuals asked to choose between an iPhone and an Android smartphone, went for the iOS device, as opposed to only 46.8% opting for an Android.

On a survey with the same question, on September 2014, 43.7% of smartphone buyers were inclined to buy an iPhone as their new device, and 56.3% expressed their intention to choose an Android.

Given that the two platforms have switched places in such a short period, Apple's decision to finally release a line of large-screened iPhone has proved to be the exact thing needed to lure Android fans to the iOS platform.

Robert W. Baird & Co.'s survey comes as no surprise, with Samsung already experiencing a serious market value hit during 2015

This comes as no surprise since a market share analysis released by IDC for the second fiscal quarter of 2015 showed that Apple's market share increased from 11.5% to 13.9%, and a 35% year-over-year growth, compared to Samsung's downward spiral from 24.8% to 21.4%.

Additionally, Samsung endured a harsh fall in market value for five months in a row, with a $44 billion (€39.5 billion) loss between April and August 2015.

Since Samsung is currently the most important Android smartphone manufacturer on the market, we can only imagine what the other manufacturers' fiscal year reports might look like.

Moreover, with the hardware upgraded iPhone 6s and 6s Plus just released, the Android platform will have to face dark times in the next few years.
