The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are offering gamers a chance to watch gameplay footage from the coming Mirror's Edge Catalyst for the first time in a new trailer released during Gamescom 2015.

The 5 minutes of footage offer a look at the way Faith is moving around the world and how she deals with enemies and unknown situations.

The action is taken from an early game mission, and all the content is pre-alpha, which means that many changes can take place before the game actually launches.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst already looks very cool and the mechanics feel both realistic and immersive.

The gameplay video shows the fluid nature of Faith's movement and emphasizes that gamers need to be careful when they deal with enemies who are better armed than she is.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is designed to follow the evolution of the character as she moves away from her career as a runner in order to become a hero, investigating the dark underbelly of the City of Glass.

Momentum is crucial for Faith

DICE says that it wants to keep the vision of the first title in the series while offering a more focused experience, with a parkour system that's more fluid and immersive.

Faith will be invincible when she maintains her momentum, which means that enemies with guns can be ignored as long as the player can move fast through the city.

DICE wants gamers to feel free to explore as they see fit and the team is saying that, in addition to campaign missions, players will be able to also take part in time trials and other types of races while also dealing with environmental puzzles.

A comic book tie-in for Mirror's Edge Catalyst has been announced, designed to expand the universe of the series and offer more details about the various characters.

The game will not have traditional multiplayer, but gamers will be able to perform certain actions that will have direct effects on the universes that other gamers have created.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is set to be released on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on February 23.
