During Gamescom 20115, the development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts delivered an impressive early game mission taken from the upcoming Mirror's Edge Catalyst and the two companies are now also aiming to give gamers more background about the universe they will explore by talking more about the City of Glass setting.

The company explains that the location is far to the south of Cascadia Prime and is one of the hubs which Silvine Systems is using to spread the digital revolution, as well as a hub for entertainment and shopping.

DICE states, "With its mix of peculiar SSSC influences, relaxed beach-resort attitude and highly educated and discerning citizenry, Glass remains an attractive location all year round. The night-life is vibrant, the restaurants specialize in exotic sea-food and the shopping is on par with what one can find in Cascadia Prime."

The developers are also mentioning historical events like the Years of Unrest, the Agglomerate Wars, the OmniStat period, and the terrorist events of FY34, but does not offer too much information about them and how the adventures of Faith will reference them.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst will use the City of Glass as the environment for gamers to explore and will feature a variety of settings, not all of them as exotic as the official description mentions.

DICE is improving parkour mechanics

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is designed to be more engaging than the first title in the series, which means that both core mechanics and the world in which they will be used are getting tweaks.

DICE wants the flow of movement to be uninterrupted as much as possible, with gamers able to move around the levels without stopping, counting on momentum to keep them safe from enemy gunfire.

Faith is a rookie in the new game and that means she is able to defend herself if she needs to, but running and jumping will be a better way to make sure that enemy attacks do not reach her.

Limited details about the narrative DICE is creating have been offered so far.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be out on February 23 of next year in North America and three days later in Europe and can be played on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC.
