The Surface 3 is Microsoft’s latest addition to its tablet lineup, and because those who want to remain productive on the go also need Internet access, the company is launching a model with LTE support that will be available via AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States (international versions should follow soon).

Today Microsoft has started taking pre-orders for the device, which is scheduled to go on sale on September 19 in the United States, so if you buy one today, expect it to arrive at your door in two weeks.

The 64 GB version of the Surface 3 with LTE costs $599 (US pricing), while the 128 GB configuration is priced at $699.

In terms of hardware configuration, the Surface 3 LTE is exactly the same as the standard model but obviously features LTE support for on-the-go Internet access.

Hardware specifications

Otherwise, it comes with the same 10.8-inch screen, and depending on the configuration you choose, it sports up to 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

In addition to the United States, Microsoft is also projected to start selling the LTE version of the Surface 3 in Canada, with pre-order to start here on September 10. As said, international markets will get it too, including those in Europe, so interested buyers in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom should be able to place a pre-order for the Surface 3 with LTE support starting October 2.

Microsoft is also expected to expand its Surface lineup with a new model next month, as many see the release of the Surface Pro 4 imminent. The device is very likely to hit the market as a premium 2-in-1 device with very advanced hardware such as Intel’s Skylake processors and up to 1 TB of storage space.

Pricing will be either the same as for the Surface Pro 3 or even higher, so expect to pay around $2,000 for the top-of-the-range version.
