As expected, Microsoft has finally started the rollout of Cortana beta for iOS users. The application is available for download to beta testers, so if you haven't been accepted into the program, you won't be able to install it on your iOS device.

Microsoft hinted to a possible release of Cortana on iOS platform earlier this month, but it did not provide an ETA for the beta version. Also, an Android beta version of Cortana is already available for download for testers since August.

According to TechCrunch, the first Cortana beta for iOS build is meant to be tested by those accepted into the beta program and will be improved based on the feedback received.

What to test and what needs to be fixed in future builds

Microsoft also highlights some of the features that must be tested in this build, such as setting a reminder on a Windows 10 PC with Cortana to see how it work on the iPhone.

Moreover, beta testers should also try and rely on Cortana to organize their meetings and check whether she can help them have meetings on time conveniently. Users should also track their interests on proactive canvas and see whether they can get the latest info useful to them.

Last but not least, beta testers should communicate with Cortana and test whether she can talk to them like a real personal assistant.

Microsoft also provided beta testers with a list of known issues, which are likely to be addressed in future builds. Until then, though, here is what beta testers should expect not to work in this version of Cortana for iOS.

This build does not support people-based reminders. Also, UX for call / SMS / calendar / reminder is a little rough. Another known issue is related to the fact that beta testers won't be able to add, edit and delete favorite places.
