Microsoft’s new flagship phones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, are now available for pre-order in India, as the company officially launched them in the country as part of an event this morning.

While both models can be pre-ordered by Indian customers right now from Microsoft Priority Reseller stores, Croma, Reliance, and Sangeetha retail stores, and online at Amazon.in, the devices will arrive in physical stores to be purchased starting December 11.

Pricing for the standard model will be Rs 43,699 ($654/€617) while the XL version will cost Rs 49,399 ($740 / €698), so the two devices will be available for almost the same amount of cash as in the other markets (the difference is obviously caused by VAT and other taxes).

As expected, Indian Microsoft officials praised the two devices and the new direction of the company now that both Lumias are available to local buyers too.

“With Windows 10 on Lumia we take innovation to the next level and build upon the unique experiences of Windows 10 for phone users. Designed for Windows fans and mobile professionals who desire a premium phone that takes full advantage of Windows 10, the new flagship devices are powerful, performance-driven, unique and innovative,” Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman, Microsoft India, said.

Dual SIM and 4G LTE support

In India, the two devices will come with dual SIM and 4G LTE support while the rest of the technical specifications remain completely unchanged.

The Lumia 950 features a 5.2-inch screen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels, a Snapdragon 808 processor running at 1.8 GHz, 3GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage space, and microSD card support, a 20 MP primary camera and a 5MP front unit, 3,000 mAh battery, and triple LED flash.

The XL has a 5.7-inch display and a Snapdragon 810 processor, the same cameras, Qi wireless charging support, USB Type-C, and a 3,340 mAh battery.

Both devices run Windows 10 Mobile and are compatible with the Display Dock, Microsoft’s adapter that enables the Continuum feature.
