It might be released to the fast ring soon, it says

The Windows Insider program continues and that’s certainly a good thing for those who want to run pre-release software on their devices, so every time a new build comes out, millions of users rush to download it on either phones or PCs.

Now Microsoft’s getting ready for a new release and Gabriel Aul, the chief of the Windows Insider effort, says that the Windows team is already testing build 10550 internally. For the moment, this build is still in the internal rings, but Aul says that it could be pushed to the fast channel of the public insider program soon if everything goes well.

Obviously, there’s no guarantee that this happens, as bugs can always prevent a build from getting the go-ahead, but if Windows devs do not come across any major issues, expect it to see daylight sometime next week.

As far as the new features that it could bring are concerned, there’s no information right now, but Aul suggests that there might be something in there worth a try despite being “only a few builds newer than last flight.”

Windows 10 Mobile preview builds

At the same time, Microsoft’s also working on Windows 10 Mobile preview builds and a new version is expected to be released very soon, ahead of the public launch scheduled for late October or early November.

Previously, Microsoft promised to release mobile preview builds at a faster pace, but the slow cadence is still maintained, despite the fact that we’re getting very close to the public unveiling of the new OS.

Windows 10 Mobile is projected to make the first public appearance in early October on the brand new Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, the company’s new flagships which will be presented alongside the Surface Pro 4 and the new Microsoft Band 2. Both Lumias will run Windows 10 Mobile and will come with the best the company has to offer in the mobile market right now.
