You might be able to test Internet speed from Bing

Microsoft’s Bing has grown so much lately that it has already surpassed the 20 percent market share threshold in the United States, and the company is continuously looking into new ways to improve it.

This time, Microsoft has been caught experimenting with a speed test implemented directly into the search engine, so when you type “speed test” on Bing, you should automatically perform a speed test.

According to WindowsCentral, this new feature has been spotted on both the web version of Bing and the iPhone flavor, but for the moment, the speed test doesn’t seem to be available on any of them. Which makes us believe that Microsoft is only trying out this feature, as the company is experimenting with quite a lot of new tools these days.

Certainly, such improvements can bring more people on Bing, but it remains to be seen whether Microsoft is indeed working to add such functionality to its search engine.

The Bing push

Bing has received quite a lot of improvements in the last 12 months or so, and Microsoft itself has tried to make it a more powerful rival to Google, especially because statistics show that demand for an alternative is continuously increasing.

Bing is not only a search engine that provides results from the world wide web but also the service that’s powering some very popular technologies these days, including Microsoft’s very own Cortana and Apple’s Siri personal assistant.

What’s more, Bing is the default search engine in Windows 10 and the built-in Microsoft Edge browser, so it’s no wonder that adoption of the service is growing at such a fast rate. Microsoft hopes this trend to continue in the coming months, so Bing will not only continue receiving updates but will also be used as the powering service for some other technologies and apps.
