We continue to upgrade devices, Redmond says

Microsoft started the Windows 10 rollout on July 29, and as compared to the previous versions of Windows, which the company made available to everyone on day one, it adopted a different strategy this time to make sure deployment happens exactly as planned.

Windows 10 is being shipped to users in stages, especially because it's offered as a free upgrade, so as Microsoft addresses the compatibility issues that might exist on our computers, more people get the new software.

In late July, Microsoft said that it would take a few weeks until everyone got Windows 10, and in the last few days, we've received questions from our readers asking whether the rollout has ended or not.

Indeed, there were signs that this happened, as Microsoft removed the upgrade notification from the Community forums where it said that the rollout continued, while no new information about the current status of the upgrade has been provided lately.

We're still upgrading Windows PCs

But in a mailed statement received this morning, the company confirms for us that the Windows 10 rollout continues, explaining that it's very pleased with the 75 million user base that its new operating system has already achieved.

“We’ve been really pleased with the strong response to Windows 10 with over 75 million Windows 10 devices activated thus far. We continue to upgrade Windows 7 & 8.1 devices in an ongoing deployment of Windows 10 worldwide. Our focus is on deploying Windows 10 in a thoughtful rollout to ensure our customers have a great upgrade experience,” a company spokesperson explains.

So here you go, in case you haven't yet received the Windows 10 upgrade, there's no need to panic. Most likely, Microsoft discovered some compatibility issues on your computer that might prevent the OS from installing correctly, so just wait a few more weeks and see what happens.

Obviously, there's always the option to install Windows 10 with the Media Creation Tool, but if you want to avoid any possible issue that might arise, waiting is your best option.
