The Xbox One has been unable to lead the current generation of consoles in terms of sales since it was introduced in late 2013 but the company is confident that it can change the momentum in the coming months and that it needs to show a new focus on Europe to do that.

Phil Spencer, who leader the gaming division at Microsoft, is quoted by VideoGamer as saying that the upcoming Gamescom presence will be a sign of how committed the company can be.

He states, "So you’re going to see brand new games, as well as obviously some repeats. From a product standpoint, I like where we are. I think the team’s doing a great job with the games and building a platform for gamers."

It's unclear whether Microsoft also plans to deliver a price cut for the Xbox One in the coming months or if it will rely on exclusive titles or bundles in order to try and increase sales.

Spencer also says that Sony has done a great job on European markets with the PlayStation 4 and also explained that competition is very good for the video games industry and for the consumer.

Microsoft will focus on titles like Quantum Break, Crackdown, and Scalebound

Neither of the experiences mentioned above was present at E3 2015, and the company says that it wants to use Gamescom to show off gameplay and details linked to all of them.

Jim Ryan, who leads the Sony European division, has recently said that in all the European countries where his company is present the PlayStation 4 has a market share of more than 70 percent, which is an impressive performance.

In the United States, the Xbox One has only managed to get the lead in the NPD Group hardware chart for one month.

A big sales battle is coming during fall and the Christmas season.

Microsoft is focused on exclusive titles, heavily promoting the launch of Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza Motorsport 6.

Meanwhile, Sony says that it will offer more value on the PlayStation 4 for massive releases like Destiny - The Taken King and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
