The Windows Phone Recovery Tool is an essential app for users of Microsoft’s smartphone platform, mostly because it can help fix critical errors that prevent devices from working correctly or from successfully loading the operating system.

Needless to say, it comes in very handy for Windows Insiders who install early versions of Windows 10 Mobile, so whenever something goes wrong, this is the go-to destination for everyone.

And fortunately, Microsoft is still improving the app to make sure that it fixes most problems, especially because the company is expected to accelerate development of Windows 10 Mobile ahead of the big launch in October.

Redmond is likely to push a new build of the new mobile OS sometimes very soon, probably next week, so an update for the Windows Phone Recovery Tool was released today to make sure that everything’s working correctly.

“Mandatory update”

There are some contradictory mentions in the change log provided by Microsoft in Windows Phone Recovery Tool version 2.1.2.

First, the company says that this is a mandatory update, which makes everyone believe that the changes it brings to the table are quite critical and vital for the overall performance of the app. And we all know that in case something goes wrong with our phones, having the latest update of the recovery app is essential.

But then, the company only points to rather minor improvements, including the addition of some missing translations, plus usability improvements and bug fixes.

While it’s hard to figure out what these improvements and bug fixes actually are, it’s really important to get this new version of app, especially if you’re a Windows Insider and plan to install every build the company plans to release.

So without further ado, if you’re a Windows tester, just go ahead and download Windows Phone Recovery Tool right now to make sure you’re on the safe side no matter what.
