14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just announced that a new update for its personal digital assistant application for iOS platform is now available for download. Since its release last year, Cortana for iOS has only received a few updates that have added important new features.
In fact, this is the first major update to the iOS application, so Cortana users should be excited about what's been included in the latest version.
First of all, Microsoft has added support for 3D touch menu in both iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S+. This feature was to be expected since almost all major developers have already added 3D touch support in their apps.
Another significant improvement included in the latest update is the addition of a new monthly reminder feature, as well as enhanced refresh mechanics for this option.
Also, the update should reduce application load time. Speaking of which, Microsoft claims that Cortana on iOS now offers a better loading experience for low speed and unstable network conditions.
New Today View for quick glance at reminders
For a quick glance at your reminders, Microsoft has added a Today View. Last but not least, developers mention that the update should bring more stable voice interactions.
The rest of the app's features remain the same: set and get location and time reminders across PC and phone, track packages, flights, scores, stocks, and other important info.
Users can also take advantage of Cortana's Notebook to view, edit and manage their interests. Make sure you ask Cortana all kinds of questions and have a little fun in your down time (that includes jokes).
Microsoft is likely to continue to update both Android and iOS apps, so expect new features and improvements to Cortana on these platforms.
