Joe Belfiore turns to Twitter to announce more app changes

Microsoft’s hard at work to improve Windows 10 and the next couple of months are expected to be quite busy for the company and its users, as several major updates are already in the pipeline and ready to go live sometime soon.

But Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president, Operating Systems Group at Microsoft, suggested on Twitter that there’s more to come for Windows 10 and the upcoming OS updates that are supposed to go live in the next 2 months might be accompanied by several other app improvements.

“Folder view in Photos app on Win10 PC! Tried it yet? Lots more good stuff coming to our apps,” Belfiore posted without saying anything about what apps could be updated in the future.

Windows 10 does need app updates

While Belfiore remains tight-lipped on the apps to receive updates, it’s pretty clear that improvements for the pre-installed programs are absolutely necessary, as users are experiencing all kinds of issues right now, some of which make it impossible to even launch them.

Since Windows 10’s launch, Microsoft has released plenty of app updates, but most of them included nothing more than bug fixes and performance improvements, with the company not even providing us with change logs.

According to Microsoft’s new approach, release notes are rolled out only when these new updates come with something big. Otherwise, it’s basically impossible to tell what’s new in these updates, as most of the changes are under the hood and do not include any new features.

But the future looks bright for Windows 10 apps and in the future, many more of those pre-installed are expected to get new options, settings, and tools, which is exactly what the new OS needs right now, no matter if we’re talking about PCs, tablets, or smartphones.

The first major update for Windows 10 is projected to launch in October or November, so expect more app improvements to arrive by then.
