Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming in a little more than one month and gamers should already prepare their devices, which on the PlayStation 4 involves making sure that they have at least 25.1 GB of free hard drive space.

The figures come from DualShockers, and it seems that the PS3 version of the same title will come in at 11.7 GB.

Both numbers are for the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and they might be a little bigger in Europe and in North America because of localization files and other changes to the core package.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is also coming to the Xbox One, the 360 and the PC, and it's unclear how big the download packages will be on those platforms.

Hideo Kojima might be taken off the official cover of the title, but he is still promoting it assiduously and is delivering a new promotional poster that will be used in Japan, which features both Snake and Quiet and is very bloody.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be coming on September 1 on home consoles, and gamers who want to experience it on the PC will have to wait two more weeks to get it.

Open world is changing the core experience of the series

Hideo Kojima and his team are very ambitious when it comes to what is likely the final title in the franchise, introducing an open world structure that is new for the series.

Gamers will be free to choose what missions they want to execute and when, selecting between night and day, weather conditions, and the state of enemy forces.

These elements influence the kind of opposition that they will face and the kinds of tools they can use in order to take out opponents and reach their objectives.

Hideo Kojima has said that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will introduce more depth for each of the core characters and will tell a story of revenge that will span the battlefields of Afghanistan.

Konami is also planning to offer an Online companion to the game, which will use the same core mechanics and will allow gamers to both collaborate and compete.
