The sixth maintenance release of the stable Mesa 3D Graphics Library 11.0 software has been announced earlier by Emil Velikov, along with the first RC (Release Candidate) version of the upcoming Mesa 11.1.0 release.

According to the release notes, Mesa 11.0.6 is mostly a bugfix release that resolves many of the issues reported by users since Mesa 11.0.5, especially for things like RadeonSI, Intel i965, Radeon r600, VC4, Nouveau, as well as LLVMpipe graphics drivers. Moreover, the release also includes patches for VC-1 decoding, GLSL, and Nir.

"Mesa 11.0.6 is now available. This release brings driver fixes for i965, r600, radeonsi, nouveau, vc4, and llvmpipe including a serious regression for r100/r200 era hardware," says Emil Velikov, Software Release Engineer at Collabora Ltd. "Additional patches cover GLSL, Nir, Mesa/Meta and VC-1 decoding."

Taking a closer look at the changes introduced by Mesa 11.0.6, we can notice that the optimal raster configuration setting has been added for AMD Fiji GPUs, the URB programming restriction for Intel i965 has been fixed, and the PGM_RESOURCES_2 variable is now initialized for ES/GS on r600.

Mesa 11.1.0 Release Candidate 1 is now available for download

Among other changes implemented in Mesa 11.0.6, we can mention better support for Radeon r100/r200 graphics cards, HEVC decoding improvements, support for the swrast front buffer, the addition of simple coeffs calc for 128bit vectors, as well as support for initializing the SX_PS_DOWNCONVERT variable to 0 (zero) on RadeonSI Stoney.

All GNU/Linux users are urged to update to the Mesa 11.0.6 stable release as soon as possible. On the other hand, those who wish to take the first RC build of the Mesa 11.1.0 3D Graphics Library for a test drive can download the Mesa 11.1.0 RC1 sources right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that it's a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
