The Mesa developers, through Emil Velikov, have announced earlier today, July 26, the immediate availability for download of the third maintenance release of the stable Mesa 10.6 3D graphics library.

According to the changelog, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, Mesa 10.6.3 is here to mainly fix issues with the open-source Nouveau video driver for Nvidia graphics cards but also to add various patches to the VL module, which affected things like VDPAU, OMX, and VAAPI.

Additionally, a memory leak in the XA component has been fixed, a quite old typo in the OSMesaPixelsStore and OSMesaGetProcAddress functions of the OSMesa API has been addressed, mixer size checks now work correctly for VDPAU, and the right-screen index is now used for the VL module.

"This release mostly consists of nouveau bugfixes, although we do have some patches for the VL module (affecting VDPAU/VAAPI/OMX), XA (memory leak) and osmesa (long standing typo in /OSMesaPixelsStore)," says Emil Velikov.

Many other issues have been fixed in Mesa 10.6.3

Furthermore, there's a fix for generation of git_sha1.h.tmp files for gitlinks, custom MOCS entries that have been set up by the Linux kernel are now used for Intel i965 graphics cards, the video buffer private function is now cleaned when the decoder is terminated, and sha256 checksums have been added to the Mesa documentation.

Also, the max level clamping on Nvidia GeForce 8 series has been fixed, a problem with indirect txq emission has been repaired for GM107 GPUs, another issue with txq on indirect samplers has been dealt with, redundant 'OPTION ARB_fog_*' directives are now allowed, and at least one color RT is now enabled for Nvidia GPUs if alphatest is active.
