The Ubuntu Touch OS might arrive in India

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is available now in China and Europe (with restrictions), but it looks that it might launch in India as well, if we are to believe the rumors.

Canonical has an Ubuntu insiders program made out of people who get some of the devices ahead of time in order to test them, but the same people also get some interesting details about the future plans of the company. For example, one of the guys in this exclusive group shared some info about an upcoming (supposedly) integration of Whatsapp in the operating system. It's not a done deal, and it might now happen in that exact way, but at least we know that they are trying.

It's difficult to give credence to this rumor, but the guy who provided the information has a good track record when it comes to this kind of things, so we might just as well believe what he is saying. In any case, if you happen to be from India, please make sure that you take this info with a grain of salt.

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is not a stretch

It's hard to imagine that Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition will be available in great numbers in India before the European campaign has a chance to run its course, but we do know one thing. The Meizu MX4 with the Flyme operating system is launching today in India, so the base is there.

This is what Ubuntu insider Sturm Flut noted on Google+: "#ubuntuphone is getting ready to launch in India. But I already gave you that hint, right?" And he then followed with this: "Well, MEIZU wants to launch the MX4 with Flyme in India, it supports the 4G frequencies in India, so it is likely the MX4."

It's not certain information, but we can only hope that Ubuntu will be extending in India.
