He hasn't showered either or at least used wet wipes

MIT graduate, chemical engineer and AOBiome founder Dave Whitlock last took a bath about 12 years ago. Make no mistake, he hasn't showered either or used wet wipes to fake a quick dip in the bathtub.

To keep himself clean, he makes sure to spray live bacteria onto his skin twice a day. He says these microorganisms are kind of like his personal groomers.

They simply eat away his sweat, any dead cells and even oils naturally secreted by the body. They don't let out any foul odors when feasting, and so regular folks would never suspect Dave Whitlock hasn't had a bath in well over a decade.

The chemical engineer would have us ditch showering too

Through AOBiome, the company that he helped found, Dave Whitlock is now trying to convince others to at least give his grooming routine a try.

AOBiome makes and sells a spray called Mother Dirt AO+ Mist and that is essentially bottled bacteria. The chemical engineer says the bacteria in his Mother Dirt are all good ones.

Just spray them onto your skin twice a day and you'll never have to shower again, as your body will reconnect with nature and basically keep itself clean.

“Modern hygiene has selectively depleted the natural balance of the skin microbiome particularly affecting AOB [ammonia oxidizing bacteria],” Dave Whitlock said in a recent interview.

“By restoring the appropriate AOB levels, we believe a range of human health conditions could be impacted,” he added, as cited by Oddity Central.

For those who take showers not because they want to stay clean but because they like the feeling of hot water against their skin, AOBiome offers a bacteria-friendly shampoo and shower gel.

The company promises that, soon after starting using their products, customers will notice that they won't need to use quite as much deodorant or moisturizer.

That's because, with good bacteria flourishing on their skin and keeping their body all nice and tidy, modern toiletries will become pretty much obsolete.

It's daily showers that make no sense, David Whitlock says

Some might think he's crazy for proposing that we all start spraying bacteria onto our skin, but chemical engineer David Whitlock is of the opinion that it's those who take daily showers that are clueless about how the human body works.

The scientist says there is no evidence whatsoever that daily showers benefit us in any way. Hence, it makes no sense that thousands and thousands of people have made it a habit to bathe at least once a day.
