It looks like 2016 will be the year of single-board computers, as more and more companies build all sorts of awesome boards inspired in some way by the Raspberry Pi movement.

A few days ago, we presented an upcoming development board, which will be developed by a group of devs under the Mozilla Japan Foundation and which promises to run the Firefox OS operating system, but today we would like to introduce you guys to a more special SBC (single-board computer), the Arduino Tian.

Arduino Tian appears to be the latest addition to the Arduino series of development board for Arduino developers. It has been designed from the offset to become the brain in various IoT (Internet of Things) projects, but it can also be successfully used in robotics, automation, and even wearable devices.

Of course, we don't have to remind you that Arduino is an open-source IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that can be used for building electronics projects. Every Arduino developer out there must have a physical programmable circuit board and the Arduino Studio software to get started on their Arduino projects.

Arduino consists of a physical programmable circuit board and a development environment, or IDE that runs on your computer, used to write and upload computer code to the board. Arduino Products are divided in different categories: Boards, Shield, Kits and Accessories.

Technical specifications of Arduino Tian

We can say that the technical specifications of Arduino Tian are something out of the ordinary, but the board ships with a built-in Wi-Fi module, 32-bit ARM Cortex M0 Core, ARM SAMD21G18 microcontroller, Qualcomm Atheros AR9342 74Kc MIPS Linux processor running at 560MHz, and non-removable 4GB eMMC flash storage.

Additionally, the board ships with 64MB DDR2 RAM, 32 KB SRAM, 20 digital I/O pins with 12 UART and PWM, 6 analog input pins with 12-bit ADC channels, one analog output pin with 10-bit DAC, 256 KB flash memory, Bluetooth 4.0 with EDR/BLE, and of course, the IEEE802.11n 2x2 2.4/5 GHz dual-band Wi-Fi module.

Best of all, Arduino Tian runs the LininoOS Linux kernel-based operating system, which appears to be based on OpenWrt, a GNU/Linux OS designed for embedded devices, such as routers and gateways, and supports the latest Arduino Studio software for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. You can order an Arduino Tian board right now!
