Matt Damon usually sports short, clean-cut hairdos, so when he stepped out the other day in Beijing with a ponytail, the fandom freaked out completely. Chris Hemsworth and his Thor hair would be jealous of Damon’s ponytail, apparently.

The actor has been busy working on his next film “The Great Wall,” which is a major (and very rare) American-Chinese co-production. It stars talent from both countries, including Damon, Pedro Pascal, Andy Lau and Jing Tian, and it’s the first film in English from director Zhang Yimou.

The film’s official synopsis says only that it’s about “a mystery centered around the construction of the Great Wall of China,” but word online has it that it’s about an alien attack or invasion, which humans stop by using the Wall of China as a weapon.

The idea is that Damon had either to grow out his hair or get extensions for the movie. He was photographed some weeks ago by the paparazzi looking as sharp as always, so my money’s on that he got a set of very convincing extensions put in.

Say what you will about Hemsworth’s Thor hair, but his wig in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was the most hilarious thing ever. Damon’s extensions, by comparisons, are looking very good.

“The Great Wall” will be out in November 2016, so it will be another while until we get a good look at Damon’s new hair in action, so to speak. Meanwhile, here’s more of it in the ET video report below.
