The first UbuCon Summit event is taking place these days, between January 21 and 22, at the SCALE 14x Southern California Linux Expo conference in Pasadena, California, United States of America (USA), hosted at Pasadena Convention Center.
Today is the first day of UbuCon Summit 2016, which means that the father of Ubuntu Linux and Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth, will be there to open the event, which should officially start at 10:00 AM (PST). The keynote begins at 10:00 AM (PST) or 6:00 PM (GMT).
At the moment of writing this article, we have no information about what Mark Shuttleworth will talk about during his opening keynote, or what new things he will unveil, but most probably, there will be some exciting news for all Ubuntu users.
As usual, we should hear some interesting stuff about what's coming next for Ubuntu as a desktop and mobile operating system, the progress of the Ubuntu convergence, as well as various details about Ubuntu on the Cloud and the latest Snappy technologies.
Dell XPS 13 Ubuntu laptop giveaway
We reported on this a few days ago, but we'll take this opportunity to remind you all that if you attend the UbuCon Summit 2016 event, you might win a Dell XPS 13 laptop with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed, which Canonical will give for free.
Canonical and Mark Shuttleworth decided to revive the popular Ubuntu Developer Summit (UDS) conference this year and name it UbuCon Summit, despite the fact that the former was transformed into an online event called Ubuntu Online Summit (UOS).
Below, our Ubuntu readers can watch the UbuCon Summit 2016 keynote with Mark Shuttleworth, which will be streamed live on YouTube. The keynote will last 45 minutes, until 11:00 AM (PST) or 7:00 PM (GMT). We will also try to highlight a few of the many exciting things Mr. Shuttleworth will reveal.
Update: Apparently, there seems to be a problem with the live stream... We will have to wait a few more minutes for it go live and we'll update you in real time.
Update 2: Well, we've waited enough. The stream is not live at the moment, but Mark Shuttleworth is on stage talking about the latest Ubuntu stuff and the future of Ubuntu Linux. Below we've attached a few tweets from those who are there, especially Jim St. Leger from Intel.
